Things that come back and bite you in the ass

Guy I just met 24 mins ago at a business meeting: Can I ask you a personal question?

SeamonkeY: *confused* Yeah…sure

Guy I just met 25 mins ago: Did you get married late last year?

SeamonkeY: Erm, yes. Were you at my wedding?

Guy who now looked vaguely familiar: Not at the wedding. But I’m the guy who was wearing the sweet round my neck which you had to bit off on your hens night.

Seamonkey: *enlightened* Oh. My. Gawd.

Auntie Discovery of the Week

We made a choice of getting a white table top for the kitchen and now each stain, scratch and discolouration is driving us nuts.

Help came in the way of a “magic sponge” from Daiso, recommended by a friend who swore by it. Just add water and viola, no more stains like the Dynamo commercial. And since we were in the vicinity of a Daiso yesterday, we decided to try it out since it’s only $2.

We managed to dig out the right sponge and now I’m swearing by it too. No more stains on the table top now. And its special ingredient that makes it “magical”? Melamine.

I wonder what’s the secret ingredient in Dynamo.

Recession so how....

while in a shower i felt propelled to diary a recession post here.

the catalyst? a close primary school mate got pay cut of 10% and force leave 2days in a month. my dad's boss wants him to choose X number of workers and retrenched them with immediate effect. today i heard from my colleague even SPH staff were forced to go on 4-day work week and becos advertising pages have shrunk so much they are forced to shrink the editorial reviews as well. And blatantly they asked "do you really want the editors to cover on your new MP3.... a sunset industry" and right down to staring at my own sales figures and typing into excel to derive the difference from sales target.

conclusion - market's bad bad bad.

so while showering just what the hell was I thinking of....a recession post? add on to the current doom and gloom stories...as if the paper headlines werent enough?

lets look at cost saving measures, ridiculous yet logical ones...enuf to put that SMILE back on yours and my face! :-)

my brain cells are frantically scouring through the house for cost saving measures sure to take you thro this recession. here they are........

1) turn off the lights if you dont need them (understand that making love in teh dark is exciting)
2) shower together for husband and wife (definitely save water, builds relationship)
3) if your pantene has finished, add lots of water in it, shake it and continue using (cut botak if you can, that saves even more)
4) if u need to work OT - my mum say work in the office, dont use our own electricity!
5) introduce the 3use1flush. 3 urines/shit then flush once. ops if the person before you had a big business, too bad!
6) water from the washing machine can be recycled and use to "flush" the toilet. but if you have a small family with little washing, add on method (5)
7) get an NTUC Union card, you get linkpoints, rebates and can redeem home appliances.
8) dont blow-dry your hair, sleep wet
9) dont shrug off pamphlet distributors, sometimes they give out "one for one voucher"
10) your 3in1 is cheaper than starbucks latte
11) iron your 5-day work apparels all at one go
12) if you own a gym membership, pop by the gym daily to shower before coming home
13) wan a PSP. try mocca
14) no need your old xbox, turn your old goods into money. cash is king
15) read the news on channelnewsasia.com (in the office, not at home), saves you $ 30-35 a month from buying straits times.
16) go deliberately without your wallet and beg for alms.
17) charge your handphone, Ipod and shaver in the office. rechargeable batteries also can
18) call your friend and deliberately put down the phone. Incoming call's free.
19) send sms via online sms facilities
20) sign up to receive all sorts of promotional sms. i got away with a $6 manicure@ Raffles Place
21) dont spend too much time writing this blog, becos electricity bills are ticking away

bye ~~
